Baptism was designed, from the beginning, to be an outward sign of an inward commitment. This outward expression is to be shared in an extremely personal manner. It is also to be used in leading other people to Christ, namely those who aren’t very much interested in the whole God thing.
Baptism is a fabulous way to get people close to the gospel.
Clint, our Lead Pastor, baptizes people who have recently become Christians. Family and friends are encouraged to move forward to be close to those being baptized. The crowd is personally involved in this experience. Clint shares briefly the story of their commitment to Christ, and then baptizes them by immersion. He takes his time with these. No assembly line atmosphere whatsoever.
