When Is a Penny Saved Not a Penny Earned?

Ok, not that I intend to dispel any myths or intent around this sage advice but I did want to challenge you to think about the balance between savings and debt reduction.

For purposes of this discussion we will assume you have met your Biblical requirements around giving and you have ample savings set aside to cover living expenses should you lose your job (that will be another discussion for a future blog!).

Now, let’s assume you have an extra $1,000 that you have saved.  You have spent hours researching CD rates and savings rates to find that your new found nest egg will pay you HISTORICALLY LOW returns of 1% or less. [Read more...]
