Who is Feed the Hunger? A faith-based 501c3 non-profit organization. Their mission is to feed the spiritual and physical hunger in the lost and needy. Feed the Hunger
What is a Pack-a-thon? It's a food packing event where participants package thousands of nutritious meals (rice, dehydrated veggies, vitamin powder, and beans). The meals are distributed though Feed the Hunger partners to children and families in need locally, nationally, and internationally.
Katy's Million Meal Pack-A-Thon will send meals locally to Katy Christian Ministries, nationally to the deeply impoverished regions of Kentucky, and internationally to Haiti.
Our Goal? Local churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals in Katy hope to work together to pack 1,000,000 meals at five packing locations around the city. Each location will have eight stations set up, and there will be five packing sessions at each location. Each station will be manned by 25 volunteers.
The Fellowship: 8 stations, 25 volunteers each station, 5 sessions
Westland Baptist Church: 8 stations, 25 volunteers each station, 5 sessions
Redeemer Community Church: 8 stations, 25 volunteers each station, 5 sessions
The Waters Church: 8 stations, 25 volunteers each station, 5 sessions
Church on the Rock: 8 stations, 25 volunteers each station, 5 sessions
The Waters Church
So, at The Waters Church we will have eight packing stations, each manned by 25 volunteers; thus, 200 volunteers working at the same time. And, that will take place five times over the course of three days. That's 40 packing stations total.
Thursday evening, November 17, 6:00 p.m.: eight (8) stations, each manned with 25 volunteers
Friday afternoon, November 18, 4:00 p.m.: eight (8) stations, each manned with 25 volunteers
Friday evening, November 18, 7:00 p.m.: eight (8) stations, each manned with 25 volunteers
Saturday morning, November 19, 9:00 a.m.: eight (8) stations, each manned with 25 volunteers
Saturday afternoon, November 19, 1:00 p.m.: eight (8) stations, each manned with 25 volunteers
Each station costs $1,400 to fund ($56 per volunteer). Note: Feed the Hunger regularly sees 5,000 meals packed per station. That's $0.28 per meal, which includes all of the ingredients and the costs to deliver the meal. So, the $56 buys 200 meals!
We need churches, organizations, businesses, and even individuals to do one or more of the following:
SERVE A STATION(S): "I/we would like to serve at one of the stations alongside other volunteers."
If so, great! (1) How many will be in your party? (2) How many sessions would you like to serve at, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5? (3) Are you able to cover the $56 per person per session in your party?
OWN A STATION(S): "I/we will do our very best to both fund the station at $1,400 and man the station at 25 volunteers."
If so, great! How many stations would you like to OWN?
FUND A STATION(S): "In order to help the overall city effort, knowing that many will gladly volunteer but may need help covering the cost, I/we will fund a station."
Of course, donations of any amount are greatly appreciate!
